We are pleased to share our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE

During 2008/09 we made a commitment, where practical, to use environmentally friendly cleaning products.

Introduced water and electricity usage targets and now measure ourselves against these targets, this is display at the front desk for guests to view.

We installed signs in the room recommending to turn off air-conditioners and lights when the room is not in use.

Introduced 9 dual flush toilets to reduce water usage

OUR 08/09 OBJECTIVES:

Significantly further reduce water usage

Reduce sprinkler system hours

Install a rain water tank with pump to localized garden areas

Introduce dual flush toilets to the remaining rooms

Investigate offering Organic Coffee, Tea and Sugar in rooms

LOCAL COMMUNITY AFFAIRS

We also have as an objective to use local suppliers to help sustain the local Broken Hill economy.

We have introduced our “Outback Plus” guest privilege card as part of our centenary celebrations. This allows our guests to receive discounts not only for repeat business to our motel but also with selected local Broken Hill retailers and tourist attractions.

SOCIAL AFFAIRS

In 2007 we launched the Lodge Outback Foundation in association with a philanthropic foundation based in Sydney – CAF Australia. In 2007/08 we undertook the following activities:

Raised $1,000 with the help of our guests to fund a life saving heart operation for a 25 year old rural Cambodian woman Nhanh. The operation was successful and now Nhanh is learning to read and write and has taken on a cooking course which will upon completion, help build up her family income. Raised $250 for the local Broken Hill children′s Gym club from our Open Day

Our objective is to continue to raise funds for needing courses with the help of our guests.

WE VALUE OUR EMPLOYEES
